CONTACTS APP IS CRASHING
on Samsung when used with contacts cloud

It started happening after a recent security update by Samsung. The contact app crashes, not my app. I looked at the error message, they have a bug in their lookup code.

I tested other phones, contact lookup works well on everything but Samsung flagships.

SOLUTION:

Unfortunately we cannot do much, other than installing a different Contact app:
The free app “True contacts” by Ondrej Psencik works well for example (the first time you click the contact you have to select “Contact” instead of “Contact details”) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.psencik.com.android.contacts

Alternatively you can set the Bubble Action (in the ⊕ cloud configuration screen) to “Dial”. It does not call, but prepares the default number in the dialer, and you can access contact details from there.

I am waiting for the Nougat update. Hopefully Samsung will sort this out. Until then, I think I am going to do a bit of a research, and recommend True Contacts to Samsung users inside my app too.
