What’s new

• eliminated overlay requirement for widget app: widget toolbar, tweak, measure, animation:
  • new expandable embedded (“inner”) widget toolbar (appears on bottom by default, but you can click on the arrow on the left to move up/down)
    
  • Tap the 3 dots (⋮) to “expand” the toolbar:
    • to include the bubble spacing seekbar (not allowed inside widget)
    • to include long press options for
      • layout  button (opens main settings),
      • rotation arrows (rotates to exact 45° positions)
      • cloud configuration (⊕) → widget measure (also available as new direct button in the embedded toolbar)
    • tap anywhere on the screen (outside the extended toolbar) to restore the embedded toolbar or tap the checkmark to end editing
      • bubble editing is only available when the embedded toolbar is shown (we cannot pass on taps to the launcher any more with this new non-overlay type extended toolbar)
  • enabled bubble animation / launcher compatibility mode, petal options on Android Go devices as well
  • measure / animation symbol changed to the expand icon
    
  • include widget measure button in widget toolbar
    
  • slightly darker / more opaque widget edit toolbar
  • improved petal options and bubble animation for rotating screens
  • widget measure help screen can now show in landscape
• attempt to fix Samsung Watch HR complication bug (again!)
  • only check for botched Samsung complications on Samsung watches (DUH!)
• Updated system library dependencies: AndroidX, AppBilling, Material, AppCompat etc.

Smaller improvements

• new option to reset Notification Icons plugin under “Restore defaults” (and in the Filters section of the plugin)
• using new improved home screen widget size API on Android 12 and over
• tested and rejected adding Android 12 style “Settings” option on long press of the widget (setting causes problems below Android 12). Keeping own pencil and double tap
• rephrased button to “Clear theme/font” on the watch [Dudee]
• added option to only clear theme font when using the button in Clock bubble settings on the watch
• include contact widgets section in easy/basic mode
• show contact widgets preview for non-premium users
• removed TrueContacts recommendation from main app
• improved layout for widget measure fine adjustment box and help screen
• improved redrawing many widgets at the same time (it sometimes failed in the past)

Privacy Policy

• new prominent disclosure and consent prompt before backing up bubble clouds (transmitting user data)
• include Privacy policy in the drawer
• removed blanket privacy policy agreement when starting the app
• updated privacy policy to explain handling of sensitive user data (contact list)
• updated privacy policy text included in the app

Bug fixes

• fixed a crash in Bubble Cloud settings on watches set to Greek
• replaced PhoneDeviceType checking for iOS/China in the watch app
• fixed a crash attempting to open Play Store page for Notifications Plugin
• fix for disappearing home screen widget badges
• crash when tapping on Notification settings section in phone app
• cloud config screen sometimes did not appear during initial home screen widget setup
• fixed auto-populate contact cloud database corruption issue
• eliminated a race condition invoked crash in Tasker plugin edit screen
• fixed rare crash on watch face

• crashes, hangs, regression issues (especially if they are reproducible)
• operation problems (unexpected behavior, mistakes)
• grammatical errors in text
• layout color / visibility / alignment problems (it helps if you include a screenshot)
• illogical or missing functionality
• further improvement suggestions
